09/02/2006

At the recent India International Leather Fair (IILF), India’s oldest leather organisation—The All India Skin and Hide Tanners and Merchants Association (AISHTMA) —proposed the formation of a regional council comprising India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal to boost cooperation in the leather sector.

M. Rafeeque Ahmed president of the AISHTMA and Mr M.M. Hashim of India’s KH Group and a former chairman of the Council for Leather Exports (CLE) urged the establishment of this council in order to encourage the exchange of information, technical collaboration, and the organisation of regional fairs.
