07/02/2006

According to Chinese customs statistics, in 2005 the business volume of exported and imported wild animals fell 26% to Yuan 8.9 billion ($1.11 million), compared with 2004. This was said to be the result of tighter government controls on the imports of edible animals, inactivity in the fur garment industry, and Avian influenza.
