According to the Government of Botswana website, negotiations concerning the re-opening of the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) abattoir in Maun are ongoing but no decision has been reached as yet.

Maun West MP Ronald Ridge is urging BMC to re-open the abattoir stating that it would make economic sense as the abattoir has a large catchment area stretching from Boteti to Ghanzi.
