Chinese case and bag exports increase nearly 18%

According to figures released by Chinese customs officers, China’s exports of cases and bags reached $6.651 billion in the period January to November 2005an increase of 17.98% compared with the same period a year earlier.,.

The four largest importers remain the US, EU, Japan and Hong Kong, accounting for 28.5%, 25.24%, 16.97% and 10.9% of the total exports respectively. Exports to the USA increased the greatest during the period, rising 18.26%.

However, although brands such as Coach and Samsonite are increasing orders for leather goods, 82.5% of the cases and bags exported are still made from plastic, PVC or other materials.
