Ukraine partially lifts ban on Brazilian meat

According to Agência Brasil the Ukranian government has authorised the resumption of fresh meat imports from Brazil, except for meat produced in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná, the areas hit by the recent outbreak of foot and mouth disease. Ukraine suspended all meat imports from Brazil on November 17 following the outbreak.

Brazilian meat exports to Ukraine in 2004 amounted to 84,600 tons and generated revenues of $88.9 million. In the first half of this year, meat shipments to Ukraine totalled 15,200 tons, worth $23 million.
