Indian leather industry scheme launched

India’s Deputy Commissioner, Anurag Verma has announced the launch of a government-funded scheme, the Integrated Development of Leather Sector (IDLS), designed to promote modernisation and technological advancement in the leather industry.

Under the scheme leather and leather goods manufacturers will be able to apply for financial support for projects to update the technology used at their facilities. Retrospective applications will also be accepted, effective from November.
