Ten Wenzhou shoe manufacturers recently took their grievances to the office of the Nigerian president after encountered difficulties due to new regulations in the African country.
The new regulations which were implemented by Nigerian customs in May this year, reclassified goods before final assembly as finished goods, although in the past they had been regarded as semi-finished.
Nigeria is the largest importer of Wenzhou shoes in Africa and in order to maintain their large market share, some Wenzhou footwear manufacturers established facilities in Nigeria to assemble the semi-finished goods which are shipped from China.
