Brazilian leather exports to South Korea increase 82%

Brazilian leather exports in October reached $110.9 million a slight improvement on the $110.5 million reported in October 2004.

For the first ten months of the current year exports rose 7% over the same period in 2004 rising from $1.07 billion to $1.15 billion.

Italy, China and Hong Kong remain the main destinations for Brazilian leather with a share of 23.45%, 17.93% and 16.52% respectively.

South Korean imports increased significantly in the ten-month period, rising 82%, from $17.6 million in 2004 to $32.1 million in the first ten months of this year.

According to the Centre of the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), the Netherlands and the USA also saw considerable increases in Brazilian leather imports. Exports to the Netherlands reached $25.5 million, a rise of 42% and exports to the USA rose 37% $127.5 million.
