An international footwear forum that attracted well-known international buyers including Brownshoe, Paramont, CTC, YKK and Great Yield Industry Co., Ltd, was held on November 30 in Chengdu city, Sichuan province – a famous shoe production base in Western China.

The theme of the forum was said to be foster shoe brand, explore international market and build a city of ladies shoe”. With the support from Chengdu government, a number of influential shoe-making enterprises actively joined the forum and a lot of foreign association also showed up at the forum including Italy’s Foreign Trade Committee and France’s Commerce Committee.

Representatives from the enterprises said they had successfully taken orders at the forum, and footwear servicing agency, CTC, announced it hopes to set up an office in the area before the end of the year, and build a shoe inspection centre that will service the western China’s enterprises.

The organiser said an international shoe trade centre was being built in Chengdu and the first edition would be completed in March 2006. Chengdu will hold its first International Shoe fair in April 2006 to attract more global buyers.
