Brazilian companies to supply shoe components to Tunisia

01/12/2005

Following a meeting between representatives of the Tunisian and Brazilian footwear sectors, an agreement has been reached under which Brazilian footwear component manufacturers will begin to supply raw material to factories in Tunisia. An official agreement will be signed at the International Fair of Leather, Chemicals, Components and Equipments for Footwear and Tanneries (Fimec), in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil in April next year.

The initial deal was agreed between Ilse Guimarães, from the Brazilian Association of Shoe and Leather Components Industries (Assintecal), and eight representatives from Tunisia.

Tunisia’s current suppliers of raw materials are mainly European, but, according to Mr Guimarães, Brazil can offer more competitive prices.
