Bill Carey passes away

William Bill” Carey, 84, passed away on October 25. Born in Germany , in 1921, Bill served under General Patton in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne and after the war settled in the US with his GI bride, Paulette in 1945. In 1963, he moved to Houston , Texas .
He was involved in the cattle hide business during his professional career, early on as a member of S.W. Trading, then moving on to form his own company CHS, and later forming Himex Inc., which he operated until his death. He was a longstanding member of the USHLA and was inducted into the US Hide Hall of Fame. Mr Carey was also a member on the International Council of Hides Skins & Leather Traders Associations (ICHSLTA) from 1974, and was president of the organisation from 1982 to 1992. He became honorary life president of the council in 1993.
