Bill Carey passes away

William Bill” Carey, 84, passed away on October 25. Born in Germany , in 1921, Bill served under General Patton in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne and after the war settled in the US Houston , Texas
He was involved in the cattle hide business during his professional career, early on as a member of S.W. Trading, then moving on to form his own company CHS, and later forming Himex Inc., which he operated until his death. He was a longstanding member of the USHLA and was inducted into the US Hide Hall of Fame. Mr Carey was also a member on the International Council of Hides Skins & Leather Traders Associations (ICHSLTA) from 1974, and was president of the organisation from 1982 to 1992. He became honorary life president of the council in 1993.
