China’s glove exports rise, but value falls

According to statistics released by Shenzhen customs, in the first 10 months of 2005, Guangdong exported 490 million pairs of gloves worth $320 million. This equates to an increase of 13.6% in terms of quantity, however, it represents a fall of 8.8% in terms of value, compared with the same period last year.

The China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) said that the average export price has fallen to only $0.6 per pair, a decrease of 22.2% compared with 2004.
