According to Vietnamese media reports, a delegation from Europe has completed a two-month investigation into eight Vietnamese footwear manufacturers. The delegation, which arrived in Vietnam in September, conducted a comprehensive investigation into eight local firms involved as part of the EU antidumping probe.

The companies visited by the group, selected by the EC after surveying 115 local manufacturers, were Pou Yuen Vietnam, Pou Chen Vietnam, Taekwang Vina Industries, Kainan Joint-Venture Company, Footwear Company No 32, Dona Bids, Binh Tien Import Export Company, and Hai Phong Leather and Footwear Company.

According to the Ministry of Trade's Department of Competition Administration, the selected companies answered questions on dumping and were asked to clarify and verify their costs for infrastructure construction; facilities, production, salaries, social welfare and other expenditure. Based on these costs, the producers had to prove that they did not dump the goods onto the EU market.

The EC is expected to announce the preliminary results soon.
