Jinjiang’s shoe exports increase

21/11/2005
Fujian has reported a significant increase in footwear exports in the first 10 months of 2005 following the end of quotas. Exports for the period January to October have already exceeded the total exports for the whole of 2004.
Official statistics reported that Jinjiang exported 453.47 million pairs of shoes in the first 10 months worth $1.07 billion, a 23.7% in terms of volume and a 31.6% rise in terms of value over last year.
The USA and EU were the largest importers of shoes from Jinjiang, absorbing 39% of the region’s shoe exports in the 10-month period. Statistics showed that the EU has recorded a continued increase in imported shoes made in Jinjiang after China’s entry to WTO, with imports increasing 24% in volume in the first 10 months. However, despite this, the CLIA recently said that in the fourth quarter Jinjiang has received fewer orders from the EU than before because of the impact of the current anti-dumpling investigation.
