The 14th Da Ying International Fur Fair, organised by the Hebei provincial government, China Light Industry Federation and China Leather Industry Association, will be held on December 8 in Da Ying, Zaoqiang county, Hebei province, China.

As a leading area in China’s fur industry, Zaoqiang has a 3,000-year history in fur processing and even the fur industry remains the backbone of the local economy. According to official statistics, in 2004 Zaoqiang’s fur business exceeded 6 Yuan billion ($741 million). The industry employs over 60,000 people producing over 600,000 fur garments every year, over 90% of which are exported to foreign countries including Russia, North America and West European countries.

To ensure the future of the industry, the government has recently invested over $18.6 million building a fur trade mall in the region.
