Tentative deal reached in Lakeside Packers strike

According to a statement released by UFCW Canada – the union representing workers at Lakeside - a tentative collective agreement has been reached between UFCW Canada Local 401 and Lakeside Packers, subject to ratification by the membership.
Announcement of the tentative deal came on the 22nd day of a strike at the slaughterhouse and processing facility inBrooks , Alberta .
Lakeside Packers normally handles about 40% of all cattle processed inCanada but production ceased when the strike began on October 12. It is owned by US-based Tyson Foods.
