Dutch specialty chemicals company Smit and Zoon B.V. has introduced two new syntans, Syntan XF 050 and Syntan DR 686, to its portfolio of leather chemicals.

Syntan XF 050 is the company’s latest development in replacement syntans. It is said to be well-suited for soft leather articles like shoe nappa and garment leathers. The open and light-weight feel gives a typical fluffy fullness whilst the uniform and relaxed handle is supportive of prolonged milling. It is also said to give a better grain tightness than most other soft syntans.

According to the company, in shoe and furniture leathers it combines well with Syntan LF 187 and/or Syntan DF 585 for a good mix of fullness and tightness. In garment & furniture leathers it combines well with Syntan S for a full-bodied handle.

Syntan DR 686 is Smit and Zoon’s latest development in DCD syntans.

It is suitable for soft leather articles such as shoe, bag and furniture leathers and gives a round fullness which improves the belly area in particular. 

It is said to combine well with melamine syntans such as the company’s Syntan LF 187, Syntan RF 181, Syntan RF 282 or Syntan TF 383 in shoe leathers to produce a good mix of fullness and tightness.
