The 2005 International Brand Shoes Fair was held in Houjie, Dongguan city, Guangdong province on October 14-17. Organisers stated that the event was a great success with over 50,000 people passing through its doors, despite the fact that it was held at the same time as the Guangzhou Export Commodity Fair.

During the four days, 10 technology seminars were held by the organisers and well known Italian names in the footwear industry.

According to official statistics, Dongguan produces 1.5 billion pairs of shoes every year and about 2 million people are employed in footwear industry.
