China’s first provincial sandal and slipper technology research centre, the Baofeng Provincial Technology Centre, has recently been opened in Quanzhou, Fujian. The centre was established between the China Leather & Footwear Industry Institute, the Fujian Second Light Industry Research Institute and Baofeng.

According to the Fujian Footwear Industry Association, the aims of the centre are to resolve technical problems relating to materials, styles and processes involved in the production of sandal and slippers.

It symbolises a new level of scientific methodology into Fujian’s sandal and slipper industry with the establishment of the research centre”, said Mr. zheng Liu He, CEO of Baofeng.

The centre will monitor the relevant standards in China and internationally, and aims to have tighter control over the use of harmful materials, whilst providing guidance and assistance to companies involved in the industry.
