Organisers of the Micam Shoevent, the international fair for medium-high and high-end footwear, held in Milan on September 22-25, have reported a large increase in attendance at its first show in the new Rho fair complex. A total of 41,799 visitors, 19,399 of whom came from outside Italy, attended the fair, a 16.27% increase. After Italy; Japan, Germany, France and the United Kingdom had the greatest numbers of buyers at the show, followed by Russia, Spain, the USA and Greece.

We are very proud of this result, quite rightly so, in my opinion”, said Rossano Soldini, chairman of ANCI, the National Association of Footwear Manufacturers, which organises Micam. We see it as proof of Micam’s international importance and of the interest in Italian-made shoes which still form the core of our show despite its large and growing number of international exhibitors”.

There were 1,559 exhibitors (11.6% more than in September 2004) occupying an exhibition space of 69,223 square metres (+26.1 %). Of these, international exhibitors numbered 439, an increase of 28.7%.
