03/10/2005

Argentina's Footwear Chamber (CIC) has elected Héctor Alberto Sellaro for a second term as president and has re-elected its board of directors. Following his reselection, Mr. Sellaro requested more intense participation of the members in the activities of the chamber and said he would work towards creating a "youngsters committee".

Speaking about the industry in general, he reminded those present that all locally produced footwear must carry an identification label created by the Chamber and said that his priorities during his new term would be to increase exports, to intensify the "Buy Argentinean Footwear" campaign, to encourage investment in the local footwear sector and to fight contraband and illegal imports.

He also mentioned the government’s steps to protect the country’s footwear industry and announced that an agreement has been reached with the Ministry of the Economy to keep footwear prices in Argentina stable.
