Calçados Beira Rio to invest $11 million in six years

Brazilian footwear manufacturer, Calçados Beira Rio, based in Rio Grande do Sul, has announced that it plans to invest $11.13 million in production facilities over the next six years. The president of the company, Roberto Argenta, has filed a protocol of intention for investment with the state's government. The investment is likely to generate 260 jobs.

Beira Rio exports 8% of its production.and has plants in Roca Sales, Taquara, Igrejinha, Osório and Novo Hamburgo, as well a joint partnership with Eva Sinos, in Sapiranga.

The company employs 3,700 workers at its six sites and produces 1.8 million pairs of shoes per month. The investment will be used to modernise the facilities and increase output.
