According to China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), the fifth China (Shiling) Leather & Leather Goods Fair, sponsored by China Light industry Federation, Guangzhou government and the CLIA, will be held in Shiling, Guangzhou on October 28-30. According to statistics, the 2004 Shiling fair generated business worth 5 billion Yuan ($617 million).

Shiling is a key leather goods production area and is especially well-known for its production of leather bags and leather cases. There are over 4,000 leather goods workshops and around 70,000 people are employed in the industry. At present it produces over 300 million leather goods, amounting to one third of the total output of the country.
