Brazil’s leather exports increase by 7%

Brazilian leather exports grew approximately 7% in the first eight months of 2005 (January to August) to reach $917.4 million compared with $853.7 million in the same period in 2004. According to the Centre of Brazilian Tanning Industries (CICB), August sales amounted to $135.3 million, 12% higher than the $121.1 million recorded in the same month of the previous year. 

In the eight –month period, finished leather exports increased by 6% in terms of volume and turnover grew from $ 400.4 million to $ 431.9 million.
