Tony Mossop passes away

Tony Mossop, president of the International Council of Tanners from April 2001 to October 2003 and one of the leading authorities on the South African leather industry; died on Friday September, 23. He also played an important role in the organisation of the successful IULTCS Conference in Cape Town in March 2001.
The fifth generation to be associated with Mossop Leathers, later to become Mossop-Western leathers, Tony Mossop served the company in various capacities — as owner, managing director and chairman of the board of directors. Over the years he made an immeasurable contribution towards the success of the company. Although only in his early sixties, he had retired from the company to devote himself to the production of, and writing about, wine. Notwithstanding his official retirement, he continued his close relationship with the company by frequent visits and sharing his immense knowledge of the leather industry with its current management and internationally.
