EPB to send delegation to Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong

According to the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) is to send a delegation from the leather trade to Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong in mid-October 2005. The visits will be to explore the markets, and to try and discover why there is a declining trend in leather exports.

It will be an opportunity to create a comparative study and analysis based on techniques, modern machinery used in these countries and marketing strategy employed. It expected exporters from Pakistan will use it as a meeting point to negotiate with existing / potential buyers from these destinations.

Meanwhile, the PTA has also stated that the Central Board of Revenue has revised duty drawback rates for goods manufactured from cow, buffalo or camel hides from fob 2.88% to 2.5%, leather garments from 5.33% to 5.24% and leather articles and made-ups using imported wet blue hides and skins have been revised from 1.78% to 1%.
