German footwear manufacturer, the Wortmann Group, based in Detmold, has reported record financial results for the full year ended May 31, 2005, with sales exceeding €500 million for the first time in the company’s 40 year history. The company achieved consolidated total sales of € 531.6 million, an increase of €67.5 million over 2004.

The company stated that it was particularly pleased with the results considering the lack of consumer confidence in recent times. In Germany alone, retail shoe sales fell by about 3%.
