Cargill completes acquisition of Better Beef Limited

Canada’s Cargill Limited has finalised an agreement to purchase beef processing and related assets operated by Better Beef Limited. The agreement was originally announced on April 15, 2005. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Better Beef Limited will now become part of Cargill's international meat solutions business. Better Beef has a workforce of over 1,700 employees.

"This integration is poised to strengthen the Canadian beef industry's position within the international beef market and will grant producers greater access to customers throughout the world," commented Bill Rupp, president of Cargill Beef.  

"We are looking forward to the new business we've developed with Cargill. The synergies created by this agreement will be a win-win for everyone involved from producers and suppliers to employees and customers," said Bennie deJonge, founder of Better Beef Limited.
