Sixth China Fur Fair to be held in Shangcun

The sixth China Fur Fair, sponsored by China Light Industry Federation, Hebei provincial government and China Leather Industry Association, will be held in Shangcun fur market, Shuning, Hebei province.

According to organisers, hides and garments from over 900 breeding farms and over 50 fur garment manufacturing factories will be exhibited at the event and over 20,000 visitors are expected to attend from China and abroad.

Shangcun is said to be the largest fur goods trading region in China with over 350 fur goods manufacturing facilities in the area. In 2004, production reached 2.8 billion yuan ($341 million) and the region exported $117 million worth of fur goods which equates to 23% of the country’s total fur exports.
