India to establish leather and footwear complexes

According to the Indian Council for Leather Exports, the Indian government has set out plans to establish a leather processing complex at Nellore, a footwear Complex near Chennai, and two footwear components parks in Chennai and Agra. These proposals come in the wake of the establishment of a leather accessories park in Kolkata which is currently being implemented, and another that is ready for commissioning.

The government has already allocated Rs. 13 billion ($288.88 million) to modernise small leather manufacturing units as well as for setting up industrial leather parks.
