Swiss leather chemical company, TFL has introduced a new liming agent Erhavit DC, a highly concentrated formulation based on selective reductive substances and non-volatile amines. It is said to improve the cleanliness of leather and the cutting yield.

Erhavit DC has been specifically designed to improve the cleanliness of the grain and to reduce seasonal fine hair and hair roots in general. Furthermore, it improves the layout by reducing excessive swelling and growth marks without making the leather loose.

It penetrates down to the hair-root, before swelling starts to make removal impossible. In this way it gives very good scud loosening and reduction of bloodstains. As a direct result pastel shade leathers can be made much more easily. For nubuck leather it also reduces the problem of residual hair.

It improves the opening-up of the hide structure as well as being effective in regulating swelling, thus avoiding draw during the liming process resulting in an optimum area yield. In addition the uniform structure provides an even penetration of tanning and re-tanning products, thus improving inner softness. The improvement of quality also shows up in less visible veins.

Erhavit DC is suitable for both hair-saving and hair-pulping processes and allows unhairing with a low amount of sulphide.
