Pakistan's Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar Khan has proposed an export target of $17.0 billion for 2005 - 06 (July-June), an increase of about 18% over the export of $14.4 billion achieved during 2004-05.

During 2004 - 2005, the export value of leather and leather goods was $787 million. To further encourage the export of leather garments it has been decided that exporters may send 100 samples per year compared to the 50 the previous year.
