The 2005 Sichuan Western China shoe expo, held at Chengdu international conference centre of Chengdu, Sichuan province between 8 to 11 July, was reported to have been a great success.

During the four days, over 20,000 participants and 400 professional buyers from around the world attended. A business value of ¥200 million ($24.4 million) was made at the fair, exceeding that of last year.

Buyers from mid-Asian countries, such as Kirghizia and Kazakhstan, had organised a conference during the fair, allowing them to meet local leather goods manufacturers.
