According to a recent report quoted by Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC), an exhibition organiser in the Middle East and the North African Regions, Saudi Arabia’s footwear industry is growing at a healthy pace. With 15 footwear manufacturing units working at full capacity and an industry valued at over $600 million, Saudi Arabia has already established itself as the largest apparel and leather market in the Middle East.

This, however, only caters for 25% of the local demand; the rest is by imports from Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Thailand, Korea, Turkey and the USA.
Cities such as Jeddah, Dhaharan, Afif, Ar`ar, Abha, Al Bahah, Buraydah, Ad Dammam now have numerous shopping malls and super markets dedicated to leather goods and footwear.
