Costil tannery files for bankruptcy protection

05/07/2005

French tannery group, Costil, filed for bankruptcy protection for its Costil Tanneries de Strasbourg on June 27. The company stated that it does, however, hope to continue its activities and that it has the backing of its main customers to do this.

The company, once the biggest tanning group in France, is owned by Spain’s Colomer Group and Tanneries Roux. It is the Tanneries Roux facility that has applied for court protection. Costil employs 122 people and has annual revenues of $3.7 million.
