Assintecal-Petrobrás Award created to encourage footwear research
Assintecal – the Brazilian Association of Leather, Footwear and Leathergoods Component Suppliers and Petrobrás – the Brazilian suppliers of petroleum and its by-products (BR Distribuidora) - have joined together to stimulate research and technological development in the Brazilian leather and shoe sector. In order to do this, they have created the Assintecal-Petrobrás Footwear Adhesives and Cementing Process Award.
Antoalci Francisco Pedro, administrative and financial vice-president of Assintecal commented, “Innovation is the key to this award. The knowledge resulting from research and development is part of any company's intellectual capital and that is why we value this award that encourages research.”
Mario Richa, manager of BR Distribuidora, said that the award seeks not only to highlight the best papers but also to stimulate their application. "We wish to encourage and value research and development of new technologies and would like to see the technical and economic effect of their application on the whole leather and footwear productive chain."
Footwear researchers and technicians working in the adhesives and allied sectors are invited to participate as well as universities and other organisations developing research in footwear. Registration for the award runs from July 15 to August 15. The award ceremony will take place during Courovisão in
