Artecola Group, of Campo Bom, Brazil has launched a new water-based cleaner for soles. It is said to be the only product of its kind produced in Latin America and offers all of the advantages of water-based and biodegradable products in terms of the impact they have on the environment and public health. 

The product is being launched after intensive testing on sports shoe production lines for six months. It has been tested on PVC, EVA, TR and PU soles, among others.

According to Luís Carlos Pasa, shoe adhesive application manager, “The 'Water-based 500 Cleaner' breaks with all traditional cleaning processes which use solvent-based products. Being water-based it does not evaporate as solvent-based products do which helps to eliminate substantial losses. It is recyclable because it does not dissolve the mould release agent residue present on the soles which usually renders cleaners unusable.” 

The 'Water-based 500 Cleaner' does not affect the substrate preventing damage to colour, shape or finish, and it offers higher productivity and eliminates fire hazards.
