Botswana’s ostrich industry wins a reprieve

Botswana Ostrich Commission (BOC) which recently said its only abattoir was set to close indefinitely at the end of June has now said that the abattoir will remain open. The company will be salvaged through a governmental venture-partnership agreement.

 

The facility was set to close because local farmers were failing to supply the 20,000 birds needed to meet the annual EU export quota.
