According to statistics from the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), 32 large companies from eastern China including Guangdong, Shanghai, and Zhejiang have already set up production bases in Bishan, Chongqi city in order to increase their share of the western market.

According to the Bishan government, eastern companies have already invested 1 billion yuan ($121 million) in the area and the plants are set to produce 2 yuan billion ($242 million) worth of goods every year.

Aokang shoe group is said to have played an important role in leading the eastern manufacturers into Bishan, and it is now thought that about 10 shoe or leather goods manufacturers have followed Aokang’s lead.
