Italian and Brazilian tanneries form JV
Italian tannery Zini and Brazilian tannery Belafranca have founded a new joint venture, Belazini Indústria e Comércio de Couros in Brazil. The main objective of the new company is to bring together Italian technology with Brazilian production competitiveness. The company, which saw an initial investment of €2 million, began operations in January 2005.
According to Alberto Magaglio, commercial director of Belazini, 70% of the company's production will be exported, 20% will be sold in the state of
Mr. Magaglio expects the new facility to produce 100,000 metres of leather per month by the end of 2006, although the plant has a monthly production capacity of 200,000 metres.
