Brazil and Portugal sign cooperation agreement

APEX-Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency) and ICEP (Foreign Trade Institute of Portugal) have recently signed an agreement to promote and intensify trade and investment between the two countries.

 

The document was signed by Juan Quirós and João Márquez da Cruz, presidents of the two organisations. Under the agreement, the two countries will exchange economic, commercial and financial information as well as details of investment opportunities. 

 

APEX-Brasil and ICEP will encourage contact between the market and private companies; to promote seminars, corporate presentations and trade missions; to develop market surveys regarding the possibility of setting up showrooms, distribution centre.

 

Juan Quirós pointed out that APEX-Brasil has consolidated strategic alliances with various countries in order to strengthen bilateral trade. Brazil already has cooperation agreements with countries such as Poland, South Africa, Tunisia, Chile and Korea. "The agreement with Portugal will be the basis of our actions in the Iberic Peninsula," Mr. Quirós said.

 

The agreement was signed at the FIL Convention Centre, in Lisbon, during a seminar that brought together Brazilian, Spanish and Portuguese entrepreneurs and representatives of trade organisations such as the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce. The Portuguese Minister of Economy and Innovation, Manuel Pinho, was present at the ceremony. Eduardo Kunst, president of Assintecal - Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Leather and Footwear Components took part in the seminar where he introduced the Brazilian leather and shoe component sector.
