15/06/2005

The Indo Polish Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IPCCI) and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) have organised ‘India Initiative 2005’, a trade exhibition at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland, from 16-18 June 2005.

‘India Initiative 2005’ has been organised with the support of the Indian Embassy in Poland, Embassy of Poland in India and Industry Ministry of Maharashtra. Its objective is to project India’s strength as an important global player in the international market and also to create awareness in this niche market that India has yet to explore.

Indian companies attending the event come from the sectors of textiles, home furnishings, handicrafts, jewellery, steel, IT, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, tea, paper products, leather, handloom, automotive parts and agricultural products.

Poland’s EU membership has opened up new horizons for trade and India believes it will benefit from Poland’s central location and recently adopted common customs tariff and GSP. Legal and technical details will be discussed at the seminars organised alongside the event.

Bilateral trade between Poland and India increased to $401 million in 2004 from $306 million in 2003.
