Richemont reports 10% sales increase

Swiss luxury goods group Richemont, whose brands include Montblanc and Cartier, has announced positive results for the year ended 31 March 2005.  Sales reached €3 717 million from €3 375 million in the previous year, an increase of 10%. Operating profit rose by 71% to €505 million from €296 million for the prior 12 months. Net profit increased by 74% to €413 million.

 

Executive chairman’s and Group CEO Norbert Platt commented “We are happy to report strong financial results for the financial year ended March 31, 2005. After the difficulties that the luxury goods industry has faced in recent years, it is heartening to see such a strong recovery in demand and the very positive impact that this has had on the group’s profitability.”
