CPC welcomes American visit

03/06/2005

The Canadian Pork Council (CPC) has welcomed news of an American tour of Canadian farms planned for next month, in the hope that it will help to allay the fears expressed by US producers over the safety of importing live Canadian swine.
Next month officials of the Illinois and California farm bureaux and approximately 20 Illinois farmers will visit farms and meet with agricultural officials in three provinces.

The "market study tour" is being organised by the Illinois Farm Bureau to draw attention to the importance of integrated North American trade.

Canadian Pork Council President Clare Schlegel views the visit as a chance to expand dialogue between the two industries.
