Wilsons the Leather Experts May sales increase
Specialty retailer of leather outerwear, accessories and apparel, Wilsons the Leather Experts Inc., has reported that sales for the four weeks ended May 28, 2005 increased 7.6% to $17.2 million compared with $16.0 million for the four weeks ended May 29, 2004. Year-to-date sales decreased 10.7% to $101.5 million compared with $113.8 million for the same period last year.
Comparable store sales increased 11.0% for the four weeks in contrast to a 6.4% decrease in comparable store sales for the four weeks ended
Commenting on the results, Michael Searles, Chief Executive Officer, said, "We are pleased with our results for the month of May. May has always been one of our lowest volume months during the year. Strong sales in men's and women's outerwear, as well as cooler weather in most of our markets helped lift our sales performance. Our focus continues to be on executing strategies that will ensure a successful holiday selling season."
