Lanxess expands Wuxi leather facility to produce plastics

Lanxess has announced that it will start up a production unit in China for compounding its Durethan (polyamide) and Pocan (polyester) semi-crystalline plastics next year at its Wuxi site in China. The site up to now has been used for producing leather chemicals.

 

From the first quarter of 2006, when the first section of the new facility starts up, the company plans to produce approx. 20,000 tons of engineering plastics annually at the Wuxi Chemicals Ltd. site, 120 kilometres north-east of Shanghai. The capacity will be enlarged in stages as required. Areas of application for the engineering plastics Durethan and Pocan include the automotive industry, electrical engineering, electronics and the domestic sector.
