FootstarWorks wins FMI Retailers Choice Award
Occupational footwear company Footstarworks has been honoured with the 2005 FMI Retailer Choice Award for Innovation and Product Potential in the apparel category, for its Safetrax slip-resistant overshoe.
The overshoe was designed as an affordable solution for the implementation of mandatory slip-resistant footwear programmes, meeting ASTMF-1677 certified slip-resistant outsole standards.
According to the US Bureau of Labour Statistics, annual slip and fall claims account for 15% of total workers’ compensation claims, representing the second leading reportable cause for personal injury. Approximately $5.3 billion was paid out on occupational injuries in 2000 and inappropriate footwear has been noted as the cause of an estimated 24% of all slip and fall accidents.
