Following the signing of several agreements regarding the new Calcutta Leather Complex in India, on May 18, the company managing the project M L Dalmiya and Company Limited, said that the first stage of the complex should be open in a matter of weeks.

60 tanneries are expected to begin operations at the new site as soon as it opens, while the complex, which covers 1,100 acres, is eventually expected to house some 500 tanneries.
