Bangladeshi PM visits Vietnam in search of improved trade ties

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is currently on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Prime Minister Phan Van Khai. It is the first official visit to Vietnam by the top Bangladeshi leader.

 

Trade ties have already greatly improved between the countries as their bi-lateral trade jumped from $14 million in 2002 to $39.5 million in 2004, but they are seeking to increase this still further in the hope of achieving $50 million this year. Vietnam exports textiles and garments, electronics products and footwear to Bangladesh whilst importing leather, chemicals, materials for the making of garments and textiles, and pharmaceutical products
