A tannery was opened in the former Soviet state of Azerbaijan on May 19. Said to be the largest leather tannery in the region, the $12 million enterprise is set to employ over 600 workers.
It currently employs specialists from Italy, Israel, Turkey and Mongolia and produces leather garments and footwear. These are aimed at supplying the domestic market and the export market.
